Ron Unger

Founder & CEO

Under Ron Unger’s leadership WorkSmart has grown from a small IT consulting firm to a leading provider of Information Technology managed services in the mid-Atlantic region. Unger oversees activities related to strategic direction, IT outsourcing solutions and growth initiatives including mergers and acquisitions. Unger earned an MBA at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. He has served as a Board Director for four mid-size, for-profit corporations based in Alaska and Washington, DC. Two of which were sold to publicly traded companies in recent years. He also serves as a Board Director for the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA). Unger was honored with the 40 Under 40 Award for Leadership and Community Service in 2005.

Ricky Ayers

Chief Financial Officer

Ricky Ayers drives WorkSmart’s success through financial planning and organizational management. He has been instrumental in refining internal processes to handle rapid yet stable expansion. His experience in improving organizational efficiency has led to a number of innovations in the structuring and presentation of IT consulting services. Prior to joining WorkSmart, Ayers was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, one of the world’s leading management consulting firms. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Clay Harris

President & COO

Clay Harris leads WorkSmart’s technical team and is responsible for all service-focused operations. He is instrumental in ensuring the delivery of the high level of customer service, professionalism, and technical expertise that WorkSmart is known for. A North Carolina native, Harris earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He serves as Board Chair for Achievement Academy of Durham, a Durham-based non-profit organization that reconnects young adults with educational opportunities.
